Following its global announcement at the last State of Play, Tides of Annihilation has released an extended gameplay trailer that offers a deeper look into this highly anticipated action title. Dive in to discover more about what's in store.
Tides Of Annihilation Trailer Showcases Fast-Paced Combat
First unveiled at the recent PlayStation State of Play, the hack-and-slash action-adventure game Tides of Annihilation has sparked significant interest with its newly released extended gameplay trailer.
The trailer features early development footage showcasing protagonist Gwendolyn and her sword-transforming companion, Niniane, navigating the ruins of a post-apocalyptic London, devastated by an Outworld invasion. As they journey through the crumbling streets, they encounter numerous enemies. A key highlight is Gwendolyn's ability to summon over ten legendary knights, inspired by King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

After battling through foes and exploring further via a magical portal, Gwendolyn and Niniane engage in a thrilling boss fight against Mordred, who appears to have conflicting objectives with Gwendolyn. This confrontation showcases the game's dynamic and action-packed combat, underscored by a haunting choir, culminating in an intense finale.
According to the game's producer, Kun Fu, featured on the PlayStation.Blog, the battle system will offer "intuitive co-op combat in a single-player experience." Players can summon two spectral knights with unique combat roles at any time, requiring strategic planning based on the situation. "The interplay between Gwendolyn and the knights creates a dynamic, fast-paced, and deeply engaging combat experience. It’s a system that our team (veterans from top game studios) fell in love with during internal playtests."
A Nod To Devil May Cry And Bayonetta

The trailer has garnered positive feedback from viewers, who have praised its art direction, style, and the fluid, fast-paced hack-and-slash combat. Many have drawn comparisons to iconic titles like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, as well as other acclaimed games such as Elden Ring, NieR: Automata, Stellar Blade, and Final Fantasy 16. The online community has expressed high enthusiasm and excitement, recognizing the game's "immense potential" and expressing eagerness to purchase it upon release.
Tides of Annihilation marks the debut title from Chengdu-based game studio Eclipse Glow Games, blending Arthurian legend with an alternate modern-day London setting. Players will step into the role of Gwendolyn, a survivor in this apocalyptic world. While no specific release date has been confirmed, the game is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
