The Samsung S90D, the latest 2024 model, is hailed as one of the premier OLED TVs, even surpassing the LG C4. It features Samsung's innovative quantum dot (QD) OLED panel, which offers enhanced brightness while maintaining the color accuracy, range, and wide-viewing angles typical of OLEDs. Compared to traditional LED LCD TVs, OLED TVs provide unmatched image quality, near-infinite blacks, an extraordinary contrast ratio, and near-instantaneous response times.

Beyond its OLED technology, the Samsung S90D is packed with features ideal for gamers. It boasts a native 120Hz panel that can reach up to 144Hz, and includes four HDMI 2.1 ports to support 4K at 120Hz on a PS5 or Xbox Series X. Additionally, it supports variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode, making it an excellent match for the newly released PlayStation 5 Pro console.

Samsung unveiled several top models at CES 2025, though exact pricing remains undisclosed. The new OLED TVs - the S95F, S90F, and S85F - come with incremental upgrades over their predecessors. The flagship S95F model features the new NQ4 AI Gen 3 processor, a 165Hz refresh rate, an enhanced anti-glare coating, and an upgraded QD OLED panel capable of up to 2,000 nits of brightness. The S90F will also include the Gen 3 processor, a 144Hz refresh rate with VRR, and a QD OLED panel reaching up to 1,300 nits of brightness for TV models 55" and larger. The S85F, positioned as the "budget" OLED TV, will feature a Gen 2 processor.

AI and Anti-Glare Tech Are the Highlights for Samsung

Samsung is heavily investing in AI technology for its 2025 lineup. The "Vision AI" can recognize content details like actors or settings and provide real-time personalized commentary. More models will feature AI Upscaling Pro and AI Motion Enhancer Pro to dynamically optimize image quality. Other enhancements include Active Voice Amplifier Pro, which isolates and enhances voices using AI, AI Optimization, and AI Energy Mode.

Samsung is also transitioning many of its TV panels to a matte-like anti-glare coating similar to the one introduced on the S95D in 2024. This coating minimizes reflections without compromising color saturation, a common issue with anti-glare coatings from other brands.
