Bandai Namco has officially announced that Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage, their fortress strategy action RPG, will be shutting down. This news might not come as a surprise to many, as it follows a trend of Bandai Namco's gacha games closing down. Fans of the Naruto series might recall the similar fate of Naruto Blazing, another gacha game that struggled with PvP issues before its demise.
When Is Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage Shutting Down?
After a remarkable run since its launch in 2017, Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage will officially shut down on December 9th, 2024. Players can continue enjoying the game until that date. Leading up to the end-of-service (EOS), there are several events planned. The Village Leader World Championship will take place from October 8th to October 18th, followed by the All-Out Mission from October 18th to November 1st. A 'Thanks For Everything' campaign will run from November 1st to December 1st, marking the final farewell. During this period, players can still collect Ninja Cards, participate in summoning events, and use their in-game items. If you have any Gold Coins, it's advisable to spend them before the game's closure.
What Went Wrong?
Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage started strong, offering players the chance to build their own village, set traps, and use their favorite Naruto characters for defense. However, around the midpoint of its lifespan, issues began to surface. The introduction of Minato marked a shift towards power creep, which was not well-received. Additionally, the game increasingly leaned into pay-to-win mechanics, reduced rewards for free-to-play users, and saw a decline in multiplayer features. These changes signaled to many that the game's closure was inevitable. If you're curious, you can still try Naruto X Boruto Ninja Voltage on the Google Play Store.
