Attention all music lovers: Spotify, the popular music streaming service, experienced a widespread outage starting around 6 a.m. PT this morning. According to reports from Downdetector, a site that tracks online service disruptions, numerous users were unable to access Spotify throughout the morning. Our own attempts to use the service were met with similar issues; even when we managed to open the app, it refused to play any music.
Spotify has officially acknowledged the problem and is actively working to resolve it. They've assured users that the outage is not due to a security breach, dispelling any rumors of a hack. Their statement on the matter was clear and concise:
We are aware of the outage and working to resolve it as soon as possible. The reports of this being a security hack are false.
