Capcom has subtly hinted at Resident Evil 9 within a celebratory video, cleverly hidden in plain sight. To commemorate reaching an impressive 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team released a short video on social media on April 25. The video features Ada Wong conversing with one of gaming's most iconic villains, followed by a scene of Leon surrounded by an infected horde wearing party hats as they approach a church.
The video transitions to a rock song, showcasing Dr. Salvador humorously strumming his chainsaw as if it were a guitar, with the camera panning back to reveal a fist-pumping Leon. Behind him stands a rustic sign that reads "Thank you for playing."

However, when you tilt the sign sideways, the boards form the Roman numeral "IX," representing the number 9. While it's possible this could be a coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that there's no lower plank on the same sign in earlier parts of the video, suggesting this detail was intentionally added. Make of that what you will.
"I know what you did here," said one surprised viewer, adding a wide-eyes emoji to their comment.
Capcom has officially announced that the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series, presumably Resident Evil 9, will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, who also directed Resident Evil 7. Nakanishi said at the time, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7], but I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Though not confirmed, it's rumored that the game will be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
