Keep Your Guard Up

Xu Wu's agility makes it a challenging opponent in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Its unpredictable movements are compounded by its unique form, which can be disorienting. Similar to Nu Udra, its dark complexion makes it tough to discern its front from its back. Be prepared to face its multiple arms and its ability to vanish into walls, only to re-emerge from the ceiling in an attempt to ambush you. This tactic is exclusive to its nest, so exercise extra caution when battling there.

Use Ice Attacks

Exploit Xu Wu's vulnerability to Ice in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Whether you're using Ice ammo or a melee weapon, ensure your gear can deliver elemental damage. Enhance your equipment with a Frost Jewel to activate the Ice Attack skill, and consider carrying a Frost Pod for additional Ice damage.

Avoid the Grab Attack

Xu Wu's arsenal includes a dangerous grab attack in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. If ensnared, you'll be unable to use your standard weapons. You have a brief window of about two seconds to break free. Utilize your slinger, particularly with Frost Pods, to escape its grasp effectively.

Attack Xu Wu's Mouth

The mouth of Xu Wu is its Achilles' heel, though it's concealed beneath its body. You'll typically only catch a glimpse when it lunges at you. A well-timed, powerful strike during this moment can deal substantial damage and potentially break its mouth, rewarding you with Xu Wu's fang. If targeting the mouth proves challenging, aim for the head, which is highly susceptible to both blunt and cut damage, as well as moderately vulnerable to ammo damage.

Use Poison

Leverage Xu Wu's 3-star weakness to Poison. A bow equipped with Poison Coating can be particularly effective. While other status ailments can be useful, steer clear of Sleep, as it's less effective against this monster.

Once you've reduced Xu Wu's health to 20 percent, you can attempt to capture it. Deploy a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap, and consider using meat as bait or positioning yourself as a lure. Quickly follow up with a tranquilizer shot to prevent Xu Wu from escaping. You have only a few seconds to act before it breaks free.

That's all you need to know about hunting and capturing Xu Wu in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Remember, this creature's agility demands constant vigilance over your stamina.
