In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, enhancing your character's strength is essential for tackling higher difficulty levels, and one effective way to do this is through the use of Gems. These gems provide passive buffs that can significantly boost your gameplay experience. You can craft new gems and level up existing ones, although the system does involve a degree of randomness. Let's delve into how to craft and use gems, as well as tips for increasing your chances of obtaining the gems you desire.
How To Craft & Level Up Gems In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Gem crafting in Dynasty Warriors: Origins is facilitated by using Pyroxene, and this can be done at any Inn or tent within the game. When you're in your room, the second option from the top will be "Create Gems." Here, you can use as many Pyroxenes as you wish, crafting gems at a one-to-one ratio. There are a set number of gems available for crafting, and each Pyroxene you use has the potential to craft any of these five gems.
Once you craft a base gem, it starts at level 1 and can be equipped via the Battle Preparations menu. Subsequent crafting of the same type of gem will contribute XP to the base gem, helping it level up and increase its potency with each level. If you're not focused on specific gems, there's no downside to using all your Pyroxene at once to craft multiple gems, thereby upgrading them across the board randomly.
For players with a preference for specific gems, there's a feature called "Eyes of the Sacred Bird" that may activate when you craft a single gem. This feature randomly selects three gems, limiting the types of gems that can be crafted with the Pyroxene used. If the selection isn't to your liking, you can cancel this effect by exiting and re-entering the gem crafting menu. While crafting one gem at a time can be time-consuming, it increases the likelihood of activating Eyes of the Sacred Bird for the gem you're targeting.
Eyes of the Sacred Bird helps manage the randomness of Gem Crafting, though it doesn't eliminate it entirely.
Here are the five gems you can craft along with their passive boosts:
| Gem Name | Passive Boost |
|---|---|
| Oblivion Gem | Expands attack range. |
| Vortex Gem | Boosts damage to enemies launched into the air. |
| Scorch Gem | Boosts damage dealt to enemies with parries. |
| Wellspring Gem | Restores health for every 100 enemies defeated. |
| Ascendance Gem | Activates a chance to automatically block an attack from an enemy officer. |
Where To Get Pyroxene In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Pyroxene can be found scattered throughout the game's overworld, appearing as distinctive orange crystals protruding from the ground. Interacting with these crystals will yield one Pyroxene and cause the crystal to vanish. After completing a Skirmish or Battle, some Pyroxene will respawn on the overworld map, encouraging you to revisit and explore previously explored areas. Additionally, you might occasionally receive Pyroxene through letters, which you can read in your room at an Inn or tent.
