A new installment in the Digimon video game series, titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger, has seemingly leaked ahead of tonight's PlayStation State of Play presentation. The leak was first spotted by Gematsu, who shared listings from GameStop that allow players to pre-order the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Although the GameStop pages currently lack images or gameplay details, the official announcement might not be far off.
This leak comes just hours before Sony's latest State of Play event, which is set to feature 40 minutes of content. Given the timing of the pre-order listings and the ample space for announcements during the presentation, it's quite plausible that Digimon Story: Time Stranger could make an appearance.
The Digimon Story series has a rich history, dating back to the original Digimon Story released for the Nintendo DS in the mid-2000s. Since then, numerous titles have been released across various platforms, including Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth in 2015 and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory in 2017, with a Complete Edition bundling both games in 2019.
In past Digimon Story games, players enter the Digimon world to befriend and battle alongside digital monsters in RPG-style gameplay. Although franchise producer Kazumashu Habu teased a new Story game in 2022, fans have been eagerly awaiting a new installment. While games like Digimon Survive have helped bridge the gap, the potential reveal of Digimon Story: Time Stranger could finally deliver the continuation fans have been hoping for.
