Dragon Quest 3 Remake: How to Get the Yellow Orb

In Dragon Quest 3 Remake, the Yellow Orb presents a unique challenge among the six colored orbs. While the process isn't overly complex, its obscurity makes it tricky to find. Unlike other quest information, obtaining this orb relies heavily on specific NPC interactions; miss those, and you'll miss the orb. This guide will illuminate the path to acquiring the Yellow Orb.

The Yellow Orb is located in Merchantburg, a town initially marked only as "???" on the map. Its name is determined by the merchant you establish there. Therefore, finding the Yellow Orb requires establishing and developing this village.

Where to Find Merchantburg ??? In Dragon Quest 3 Remake

Merchantburg becomes accessible after obtaining the ship from the King of Portoga following the Black Pepper quest. With quest markers enabled, you'll find Merchantburg in the northeast corner of the world map, reachable by sailing west from the coast to the eastern edge of the eastern continent.

When to Visit Merchantburg

While orb acquisition order is flexible, visiting Merchantburg early—immediately after obtaining the ship—is highly recommended. This allows ample time for the town's growth before you can obtain the Yellow Orb. You can collect other orbs concurrently while Merchantburg develops.

### Establishing Merchantburg

Before heading to Merchantburg (???), hire a new merchant from PALS in Aliahan. Minimize combat en route to ensure your new party member's survival.

In Merchantburg, enter the lone building and speak to the old man. He'll explain his need for a merchant to found the town. Offer your newly hired merchant; they'll leave your party to establish the town, revealing its official name.

Returning to Merchantburg

After establishing Merchantburg, proceed with obtaining the Purple Orb (Orochi's Lair) and Blue Orb (Gaia's Navel). You'll receive notifications prompting your return to Merchantburg as it grows through five stages. Each visit reveals a slightly larger town, culminating in a cabaret's construction. After leaving the cabaret, be wary of the security guard attempting to extort you.

The fourth visit will highlight growing discontent among townsfolk towards your merchant, foreshadowing their eventual removal.

Obtaining the Yellow Orb

During your fifth and final visit (at night), you'll find the merchant missing. The town has revolted, imprisoning them in the house south of their former residence. Speak to the imprisoned merchant to learn the Yellow Orb's location. Return to the merchant's house; a quest marker behind the sofa will now indicate the Orb's hiding place.

For many players, the Yellow Orb will be among the last acquired. Remember the locations of the other orbs: Red Orb (Pirates' Den), Green Orb (Theddon), and Silver Orb (Maw of the Necrogond/Necrogond Shrine).
