In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll carve a path through ancient China, battling alongside various warlords. But eventually, a crucial decision awaits: choosing your allegiance. This guide explains the faction selection process.
Understanding Factions in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*
The game unfolds in chapters. The first two chapters feature the Wanderer, your character, acting independently. You'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in key events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate. However, Chapter 3 presents a turning point.
By the end of Chapter 3, you must pledge your loyalty to one of the three factions: Sun Jian, Liu Bei, or Cao Cao. Before making your choice, the game provides opportunities to learn more about each faction through a series of battles.
To ally with a faction, you need to complete a specific number of missions: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Completing these unlocks a mission where you formally choose your allegiance. If you've met a faction's requirements, they'll be selectable; otherwise, that option will be unavailable. You can complete missions for all factions before making your final decision.
Your choice is permanent. Once you select a faction, the others become inaccessible. You can no longer accept side quests from their officers, hindering your ability to bond with them and potentially impacting gameplay difficulty. For example, allying with Liu Bei, who initially has fewer officers, might limit early skill point acquisition through side quests.
Each faction offers unique missions. To experience all *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, create a save before choosing a faction, allowing you to replay the game with different allegiances.
That's how you choose your faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
