Having your own house at the age of 18 might seem like a dream come true—think independence and your very own space, all before you're even old enough to legally drink in the US! However, in the case of "Your House," you might find yourself reconsidering that dream. This seemingly cozy home has a dark twist to it that you'll want to unravel.
In this gripping text-based adventure, you step into the shoes of Debbie, a young woman who faces a series of unfortunate events on her 18th birthday: expulsion from school, betrayal by her best friend, and being hit by a car. With everything seemingly lost, Debbie receives a mysterious key and a letter directing her to the titular house. Driven by curiosity and desperation, she embarks on a journey to uncover the secrets hidden within its walls.
As you navigate through the house, you'll encounter dozens of escape room-style puzzles that challenge your ingenuity. A mysterious figure watching from the sidewalk adds an eerie layer of suspense, making you wonder if Debbie will emerge unscathed.
The rental market can be murder
While I may be painting "Your House" in a more ominous light than it perhaps deserves, there's no denying the spooky undercurrent that permeates this escape room-style puzzler. As you delve into the various nooks and crannies of your new home, you'll find plenty of visuals to enhance the text-based narration, making it a compelling experience worth exploring.
Be prepared for some intense tapping, though. As noted in Catherine's review, while "Your House" received high praise, it did lose some points due to the need for rapid interaction. If you're willing to take your time and scrutinize each screen carefully, you may find the slow-burn pace rewarding.
