Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal of weapons, and crafting a winning build hinges on securing a solid weapon. While you begin with basic equipment, the game progressively unveils opportunities to acquire weapons perfectly aligned with your preferred playstyle.
Blending roguelike and extraction game elements, Hyper Light Breaker offers a unique approach to weapon acquisition. Here's your guide to expanding your arsenal:
Where to Find New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker

Your primary source for new gear is exploring Overgrowths. While exploring naturally yields new items, focusing on sword (Blades) or pistol (Rails) icons on the map significantly increases your chances of finding weapons.
Blades are melee weapons, each with distinct movesets and special abilities. Rails, on the other hand, are ranged weapons, each possessing unique functionalities. Both weapon types come in varying rarities, with gold representing the most powerful. As expected, rarer weapons boast superior stats.
To save any discovered weapon for later use, press the Cache button instead of Equip. This sends the weapon to your personal stash, allowing you to equip it before your next run by adjusting your loadout at the Outpost.
Acquiring New Starting Weapons

Beyond discovering weapons during runs, you can purchase new starting equipment from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is accessible. Unlocking the Rails merchant requires gathering sufficient materials to repair their shop.
Merchants maintain limited stock, but their inventories refresh periodically. If you don't find what you're looking for immediately, check back later.
Weapon Upgrades

Enhance your gear by upgrading it at the Outpost merchants. However, this requires unlocking the upgrade feature first by increasing your affinity with the merchants. This is achieved by collecting Golden Rations, a resource found through exploration or by resetting cycles. Golden Rations are scarce, so use them wisely.
A final note: equipped gear loses a pip of durability each time you die, eventually breaking after repeated deaths.
