inZOI Developers Responded to Questions About Explicit Content
There Will Be "Sort Of" A Sex Feature
With inZOI's early access release on the horizon, fans are eager to understand the game's features, particularly those related to sex and nudity. During an "Ask Me (almost) Anything" live segment on inZOI’s official Discord channel, three team leads, with translations provided by Assistant Director Joel Lee, tackled fan queries.
The discussion spanned various aspects of realism in the game, including baby care, body size, and driving. However, a significant focus was on explicit content. Lee provided a work-safe response, saying, "Our answer is: sort of. There is a feature in the game that you obviously know what's happening; the male Zoi and the female Zoi are together, likely in bed, with the intention of creating babies. How visually apparent is that? That's where you have to use your imagination. What you're seeing is not what you're seeing; you have to assume that's what's happening. Is that clear enough for everyone? It's there. Sort of. Maybe not to the level that everyone would have been expecting."
This somewhat ambiguous statement confirms that sex will be a feature in inZOI, albeit with adjusted animations and processes to cater to a broader audience. Given inZOI's realistic theme, fans might anticipate a more grounded approach compared to the more whimsical style of The Sims.
Blurring Effects Don’t Work Well With inZOI
Players also inquired about Zois showering with their towel on, which relates to the game's art style and the limitations of blurring effects. The developers noted that pixelated blurring works well for cartoony games like The Sims but feels more suggestive in inZOI's more realistic style. Additionally, a bug during testing allowed players to see Zois without visual effects in the mirror, revealing them fully naked—a problem the developers have since addressed.
Making inZOI Available to All
Despite concerns about sex and nudity, inZOI has received a T for Teen rating from the ESRB, akin to The Sims 4. This rating ensures the game remains accessible to a wide audience while maintaining a safe-for-work environment. Assistant Director Joel Lee emphasized the team's goal to create a game that appeals to various age groups, stating, "We wanted to provide a game that was widely available to as many age groups as possible."
The developers have scheduled a live stream showcase for March 19, 2025, at 01:00 UTC on inZOI’s official YouTube and Twitch channels. This event will cover early access pricing, DLC, the game’s developmental roadmap, and answer more fan questions.
