Let the demon hunting begin. Netflix is bringing the iconic video game series Devil May Cry to life with an anime adaptation, and fans have been treated to a thrilling new trailer. What makes this announcement even more exciting is the posthumous involvement of the legendary voice actor Kevin Conroy, who will star in this new game adaptation.
Conroy, celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman in numerous animated films and TV series, takes on the role of VP Baines, a new character introduced in the series. His voice can be heard at the beginning of the trailer, giving fans one more chance to experience his remarkable talent following his passing in November 2022 at the age of 66. Conroy's recent posthumous performance in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3 received widespread acclaim, and his role in Devil May Cry promises to be another testament to his enduring legacy.
Joining Conroy in the cast are Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo, and Johnny Yong Bosch lending his voice to the protagonist, Dante.
According to the official synopsis from Netflix, “Sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck.”

Adi Shankar, known for his work on films like the 2012 Judge Dredd reboot, Killing Them Softly, and The Voices, will serve as the showrunner for Devil May Cry. Shankar's involvement in other projects, including the yet-to-be-released Assassin’s Creed series, showcases his versatility and commitment to bringing compelling stories to the screen.
The animation will be handled by Studio Mir, the acclaimed South Korean studio behind The Legend of Korra and X-Men ‘97. With their proven track record, fans can expect high-quality visuals and storytelling.
Mark your calendars—Devil May Cry will premiere on Netflix on April 3, 2025.
