While many fans believed Patch 7 would mark the end of major updates for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has thrilling news: another substantial update is on the horizon for 2025. This upcoming patch promises to enhance the gaming experience with crossplay support, a photo mode, and the introduction of 12 new subclasses, each designed to bring fresh and unique mechanics to the game.
We've already had a sneak peek at four of these exciting subclasses, and now, let's explore the details of the remaining ones: Oath of the Crown Paladin, Arcane Archer, Drunken Master Monk, and Swarmkeeper Ranger.
Oath of the Crown Paladin
The Oath of the Crown Paladin is dedicated to upholding justice and order, prioritizing the well-being of society. This subclass is equipped with the powerful Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs incoming damage directed at allies but also heals them simultaneously, making it a vital asset on the battlefield.
Arcane Archer
The Arcane Archer blends martial skill with the mystique of arcane magic, allowing them to fire enchanted arrows that can blind, weaken, or even banish enemies to the Feywild for a turn. What's more, if an arrow misses its target, the Arcane Archer can cleverly redirect its trajectory to hit another foe, ensuring their shots are never wasted.
Drunken Master Monk
Embracing a unique approach to combat, the Drunken Master Monk integrates alcohol into their fighting style. Their signature move intoxicates opponents, leaving them disoriented while enhancing the monk's own capabilities. The use of Instant Sobriety on an inebriated target not only sobers them up but also inflicts significant physical and mental damage.
Swarmkeeper Ranger
The Swarmkeeper Ranger forges a symbiotic relationship with nature, commanding swarms of creatures to aid them in battle. These swarms offer protection from harm and facilitate teleportation. In combat, the ranger can deploy three distinct types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters, blinding moth clouds, and stinging bee legions. The latter can push back enemies failing a strength check by 4.5 meters, adding a strategic layer to encounters.
With these new subclasses, players will have even more ways to customize their characters and tackle the challenges of Baldur's Gate 3. Stay tuned for more information as we approach the 2025 update and prepare for an enriched gaming experience.
