Larian Studios announced on Steam that a stress test for Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8 is planned for January. This test will be available on PC via Steam, and on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Mac and GOG users will not have access to this test build. Registration for the stress test is currently open.

The developer encourages player participation, stating, "With your help, we’ll be able to keep an eye on any funny business." A key focus of this stress test is cross-platform play. Larian acknowledges the challenges of implementing crossplay in a game of Baldur's Gate 3's scale and seeks player assistance in evaluating this new feature. Players are encouraged to share the registration link with friends or join groups on the Larian Studios Discord server.
While Patch 8 represents the final major content update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian reaffirms its commitment to supporting the game's modding community. Significant updates are planned to enhance modding capabilities, allowing players to create and share their own stories. Since the release of official modding tools in September, players have downloaded over 70 million modules and uploaded over 3,000 mods.
