Yes, the MSRP Is $79.99
When purchased alone, Mario Kart World is priced at $79.99, which is $10 more than the standard price for AAA PlayStation and Xbox games this generation. While I'm not thrilled about the price increase between console generations, I understand the rising costs of game development. Hopefully, the expansive nature of Mario Kart World justifies the higher cost.
What Is Mario Kart World?
Mario Kart World is poised to be the most extensive Mario Kart game to date, featuring an open-world format similar to the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from one race to the next across the world map. The game's tracks are influenced by dynamic weather and time-of-day changes, which can impact visibility and traction during races. Players can also venture off the designated tracks to explore virtually everywhere in the Mushroom Kingdom. Each race accommodates up to 24 drivers, a record for the series.
A new mode called Knockout Tour challenges players to race across the open world, passing through checkpoints. Falling behind at these checkpoints results in elimination from the race. For a more relaxed experience, Free Roam mode lets you explore at your own pace, either alone or with friends, capturing memorable moments along the way.
More details about Mario Kart World will be revealed during the Nintendo Direct on April 17. In the meantime, check out our hands-on preview for more insights.
