All Moves
Command | Move | Description |
---|---|---|
Triangle/Y | Double Slash/Circle Slash | A fundamental combo starter. Press Triangle/Y for a Double Slash, then again for a Circle Slash. |
Circle/B | Lunging Strike/Roundslash | A slashing attack advancing in the direction of the analog stick. Press again for a Roundslash. |
R2/RT | Demon Mode | Boosts attack, movement speed, evasion, and grants knockback immunity. |
Triangle/Y + Circle/B (In Demon Mode) | Blade Dance I, II, III | Powerful attacks in Demon Mode, chained together and consuming the Demon Gauge. |
Triangle/Y + Circle/B (In Archdemon Mode) | Demon Flurry I, II | Attacks unleashed only in Archdemon Mode, consuming the Demon Gauge. Use the analog stick to control direction. These can be chained with Blade Dance attacks using R2/RT. |
Cross/A (During Demon/Archdemon Mode) | Demon Dodge | A faster dodge in Demon/Archdemon Mode. A Perfect Evade allows attacks while dodging, providing a short-term buff. Demon Dodge doesn't consume the Demon Gauge in Demon Mode. |
L2/LT + R1/RB | Focus Strike: Turning Tide | A slashing attack effective against wounds; hitting a wound performs a Midair Spinning Blade Dance, spanning the monster's length and potentially destroying multiple wounds. |
Demon Mode/Demon Gauge and Archdemon Mode
Unique to Dual Blades, Demon Mode increases attack, movement speed, evasion, and grants knockback immunity. Stamina depletes constantly while active; it ends via manual cancellation or zero stamina.
Landing attacks in Demon Mode fills the Demon Gauge. A full gauge activates Archdemon Mode, where the gauge depletes over time and is consumed by certain attacks, enabling boosted attacks.
Both modes can be used concurrently. The Demon Gauge stops decreasing while mounted, providing strategic advantage.
Demon Dodge
Activated after a Perfect Evade, this empowered state increases regular and elemental damage and allows attacks while dodging. It grants a 12-second damage buff, with subsequent dodges causing spinning forward damage.
Combos

Basic Combo
Chain the Triangle/Y attack three times (Double Slash, Double Slash Return Stroke, Circle Slash) for reliable damage. Alternatively, use the Circle/B Demon Flurry Rush – Spinning Slash – Double Roundslash combo for quick Demon Gauge filling.
Demon Mode Basic Combo
In Demon Mode, the basic combo becomes more powerful and faster: Demon Fangs, Twofold Demon Slash, Sixfold Demon Slash, finishing with Triangle/Y + Circle/B for Demon Flurry I.
Archdemon Mode Blade Dance Combo
With a full Demon Gauge (Archdemon Mode), unleash devastating damage: Blade Dance (Triangle/Y + Circle/B), followed by four R2/RT presses for Demon Flurry I into Blade Dance II, then Demon Flurry II and Blade Dance III. This interplay delivers immense, rapid damage.

Dual Blade Tips

Always Follow Up
Begin with the basic Demon Flurry Rush combo (Circle/B + Circle/B + Circle/B), transitioning to full Demon or Archdemon Mode combos (three sets of Triangle/Y + Circle/B). This rapidly fills the Demon Gauge and unleashes fast damage.
Keep Your Stamina Up
Demon Mode relies on stamina. Maintain reserves. While exiting to recover is an option, exploiting wounds with Focus Strike helps fill the Demon Gauge without stamina drain, allowing for aggressive attacks.
Dodging in Between Attacks
Dodge frequently; the Dual Blades offer high mobility. Attacks are generally not locking, enabling timely dodges. Avoid over-aggressiveness and premature commitment.
Ensure Sharpness
Constant attacks quickly dull the blades. The Speed Sharpening skill significantly reduces downtime.
