The much-anticipated release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was officially confirmed during Sony’s State of Play 2025 broadcast, accompanied by an exciting new trailer. The game is slated to launch on August 28, 2025. This date had previously been leaked via the PlayStation Store, along with the trailer, and both were validated during the event.
Adding to the excitement, an Ape Escape collaboration was teased, hinting at a nod to the original Metal Gear Solid 3, which included a memorable monkey minigame. In this game, players controlled Snake as he used stun grenades and the ‘Monkey Shaker’ gun to handle the mischievous primates. The teaser concluded with a message promising "And More," suggesting that fans can expect additional crossovers in the future.
While Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater introduces a new first-person perspective, it remains a faithful recreation of the original game. According to IGN's preview, "Metal Gear Solid Delta seems more like a very shiny HD remaster than the elegant remake it could have been. It’s an admittedly beautiful nostalgia trip, but almost faithful to a fault."
