Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide
Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially after the release of Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, often confusing for players due to unclear objectives and the station's layout. This mission begins after the anomaly clears the nosalis horde, with Khan taking a railcar to the next station (Turgenevskaya).
Locating the Bomb
After exiting the railcar and reaching the barricaded escalators, speak with the defenders. They'll explain a missing explosives crew tasked with collapsing the tunnel to stop the nosalis onslaught. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows directly ahead – they'll damage Artyom. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if necessary.
Destroying the Tunnel
To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective) and wait for the cutscene. Artyom will automatically plant and light the fuse; escape immediately to avoid the blast. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb will also collapse the tunnel. Note: even with the main tunnel destroyed, nosalises will still infiltrate from other entrances.
Securing the Airlock
A secondary objective involves destroying an airlock. Locate the stairs on the right of the main platform, leading to a torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises and interact with the support columns to plant a pipe bomb. Again, evacuate immediately after lighting the fuse. With both entrances sealed, proceed with Khan to the shrine room, and through the floor panel to begin the "Armory" mission.
