Konami hints at a potential next-gen release for Metal Gear Solid 4, fueling speculation about its inclusion in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2.
Konami Hints at MGS4 Remake and Next-Gen Ports
MGS Master Collection Vol. 2 May Include Metal Gear Solid 4
Recent comments from Konami producer Noriaki Okamura to IGN suggest Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots could be remade and included in MGS Master Collection Vol. 2, potentially launching on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and other platforms. While acknowledging the fan excitement and speculation surrounding a potential PS5 and Xbox release, Okamura remained coy about concrete details.
"We're aware of the interest in MGS4," Okamura stated. "With Vol. 1 encompassing MGS 1-3... well, you can probably draw your own conclusions! We're still internally evaluating the future of the series. So, no official announcements yet, but stay tuned!"
The possibility of MGS4 finally leaving its PS3 exclusivity has been a long-standing fan hope. The release of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 last year, featuring remastered versions of the first three games on various platforms including PC and Switch, has further fueled this anticipation.
Rumors of an MGS4 remake intensified last year following the appearance of placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on Konami's official timeline. IGN further reported these titles as likely candidates for Master Collection Vol. 2, although Konami has yet to confirm this.
Adding fuel to the fire, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted at his involvement in an MGS4-related project last November on social media. However, Konami remains tight-lipped about the contents and official plans for MGS4 in Master Collection Vol. 2.
