Nintendo has officially announced that players will be able to utilize the innovative Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls right on the Home screen. Since the much-anticipated reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, enthusiasts have been buzzing with excitement over the potential of the new Joy-Con's mouse functionality. Last month, we received the official confirmation that these Joy-Con can switch into a "mouse mode," allowing users to glide the controllers on surfaces and use the analog sticks to mimic left-click and right-click actions, much like a traditional mouse. Furthermore, the flexibility extends to using two Joy-Con simultaneously in mouse mode, one in each hand, or pairing one in standard mode with the other in mouse mode.
Exciting new details have emerged, courtesy of a demonstration on the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter. It's now clear that the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls will enhance user interaction on the Switch 2's Home menu.

Nintendo elaborated on the process, stating, "If you place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen. To activate the cursor, simply place the Joy-Con 2 on a table or any flat surface and move it as instructed."
Additionally, Nintendo explained, "While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to navigate through menus. This feature is available on the Home menu and within compatible software." To revert to using the thumbstick, you need only to reposition the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.
Although the full list of games that will support these mouse controls remains undisclosed, Nintendo has already demonstrated the technology's compatibility with the Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree, Metroid Prime 4, and the unique wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
The eagerly awaited Nintendo Switch 2 is slated for release on June 5.
