Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour: A Paid Experience

Author : Lucas Apr 15,2025

Nintendo has unveiled the Switch 2 Welcome Tour, a unique game set to launch alongside the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. Contrary to what many might expect, this intriguing title isn't a complimentary pack-in game but rather a separate, paid digital download available on the Nintendo eShop.

During the recent Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, the Welcome Tour was described as a "virtual exhibition" of the new console. Nintendo promises that "through tech demos, minigames, and other interactive elements, players will gain a comprehensive understanding of the new system, uncovering features they might not have discovered otherwise."

The Direct provided a glimpse of a player avatar navigating a larger-than-life representation of the Switch 2, interacting with displays that educate about its features and capabilities. The game essentially serves as a virtual museum, complete with engaging minigames such as Speed Golf, Dodge the Spiked Balls, and a Maracas Physics Demo.

Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 Welcome Tour will be available for purchase on the eShop starting on the launch day of the Switch 2. While this game offers an exciting way to explore the new console, fans have expressed surprise and curiosity about its status as a paid digital game rather than a bundled inclusion. As of now, no specific price has been announced.

In comparison, the Switch 2's launch lineup includes titles like Mario Kart World, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, and Deltarune Chapters 1 through 4. While the Welcome Tour provides an insightful introduction to the new hardware, it will be vying for consumer attention amidst a robust selection of launch titles.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to hit the shelves on June 5, 2025, with a starting price of $449.99 USD, or $499.99 for the bundle that includes Mario Kart World.
