This guide explores the revamped PlayStation Plus service and its diverse game library, focusing on horror titles available across its tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Online play requires at least the Essential tier, which also offers monthly free games. However, for a wider selection of horror games, Extra and Premium are necessary.
The Extra tier grants access to a vast catalog of PS5 and PS4 games, regularly updated with new additions. Premium expands this library further, including classic titles from PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP. Sony's service boasts a comprehensive range of genres, including a strong horror selection.
Update (January 5, 2025): The December 2024 PS Plus Extra and Premium additions lacked horror titles. Note that Resident Evil 2 will be removed on January 21, 2025, leaving Resident Evil 3 as a remaining strong option in the genre. Given their shorter campaign lengths, completing at least one Resident Evil 2 playthrough before its removal is feasible.
