Pokemon GO enthusiasts have a thrilling update to look forward to with the upcoming Fashion Week: Taken Over event. Niantic has announced that for the first time, players can use remote raid passes in Shadow Raids during this event. Introduced in 2023, Shadow Raids have become a favorite among players for their chance to catch powerful Pokemon.
As we kick off 2025, Pokemon GO is rolling out a series of exciting updates. January alone brings the return of Ralts for the second Community Day of the month. Now, with the Fashion Week: Taken Over event on the horizon, the developers have thrilled fans by introducing a feature many have been eagerly awaiting.
Details of the Fashion Week: Taken Over Event
The Fashion Week: Taken Over event will run from Wednesday, January 15, at 12:00 a.m. to Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time. During this period, trainers can participate in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids either in person or remotely using their remote raid passes. This event provides a golden opportunity for players to capture Pokemon with higher IV stats, enhancing their chances of building a formidable team.
Pokemon GO Temporarily Introducing Remote Raid Passes for Shadow Raids
This new feature is exclusive to the Fashion Week: Taken Over event. However, on January 19, between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. local time, players can also use their remote raid passes to battle in the Shadow Ho-Oh Raid day. During this raid day, trainers will have an increased chance of catching the elusive shiny shadow Ho-Oh, along with the ability to teach it the charged attack Sacred Fire. Additionally, players can use a Charged TM on Shadow Pokemon to forget the move Frustration.
The introduction of remote raid passes for Shadow Raids has been one of the most requested features by the Pokemon GO community since their addition in 2023. Players are excited to finally have the opportunity to participate in these raids from the comfort of their homes. However, it's important to note that this feature will only be available during the Fashion Week: Taken Over event, and remote raid passes will not be usable in Shadow Raids afterward.
It remains uncertain whether Niantic plans to make this feature permanent. Given the feedback on the challenges of gathering in person for Dynamax and Gigantamax battles, many fans hope that remote raid passes for Shadow Raids will become a standard feature in Pokemon GO, enhancing the accessibility and enjoyment of the game.
