Charging your Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller will take nearly half the time compared to the original model. As Nintendo Life reported, Nintendo recently detailed the tech specs of the upgraded $84.99 Switch 2 Pro Controller, confirming a charging time of around three-and-a-half hours when using the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or the USB-C charging cable. That's a significant reduction from the six hours required to fully charge the original Pro Controller.
The good news is that this faster charging capability doesn't compromise the Pro Controller's impressive 40-hour battery life. The Switch 2 Pro Controller maintains the same 40-hour run time between charges as its predecessor. Additionally, it introduces the new C button, includes two extra GL/GR buttons on the underside, and is designed to be slightly lighter and smaller than the original version.

If you're not ready to let go of your original controller, rest assured that Nintendo has confirmed the original controller will be compatible with the new console system.
Nintendo officially introduced the Switch 2 during a 60-minute Nintendo Direct earlier this month. Initially, pre-orders were scheduled to open in early April in the U.S., but due to tariff-related uncertainties, Nintendo delayed the pre-order date to April 24. During this delay, Nintendo announced that the $449.99 price for the Switch 2 console and its games would remain unchanged, though they raised prices on most Switch 2 accessories, with the Switch 2 Pro Controller increasing from $80 to $85.
