Star Wars Celebration has provided fans with an exciting first look at Rory McCann stepping into the role of Baylan Skoll for Season 2 of Ahsoka. For those new to the series, McCann is taking on the role previously played by Ray Stevenson, who tragically passed away from a brief illness just three months before the premiere of the first season.
While we are yet to see McCann in action, the Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration unveiled a captivating first-look image, which you can see below.
Ray Stevenson, known for his roles in Thor, RRR, Punisher: War Zone, Rome, and more, left a lasting impression with his portrayal of Baylan, which many fans consider to be a highlight of the series. Ahsoka's creator, Dave Filoni, spoke candidly about the challenge of losing Stevenson, describing him as "the most beautiful person on screen and off," which made his absence a significant hurdle in developing Season 2.
During the panel, Filoni and the team also teased what fans can expect in the upcoming season, confirming the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, alongside beloved characters like Admiral Ackbar, Zeb, and Chopper, promising an exciting continuation of the story.
In our review of Ahsoka's first season, we noted that the series "struggles in its early episodes as it works to bring viewers up to speed on characters and concepts introduced in Dave Filoni’s animated Star Wars shows. However, once the actors and cosmic plots are given room to breathe, Ahsoka finds a wonderful blend of rich lore, humor, and epic battles, evoking the spirit of classic Star Wars while also paving the way for something fresh and new."
