Getting Started as an Archer in Rune Slayer

If you're new to the Archer class, this section is for you. Veterans can skip ahead. As an Archer, your most effective strategy is to maintain a safe distance from your enemies, letting your arrows do the talking. Although Archers can deal significant damage, they're not built to withstand hits.

Archers wear Medium armor, which offers more protection than Light armor but less than Heavy. Unlike Light armor-wearing classes like Magicians or Priests, Archers don’t have protective spells or heavy armor. Instead, they rely on other players and their Pets to absorb damage.

Tamed Pets are crucial for Archers. Initially, your pet options might be limited, but as you progress, you'll unlock access to a variety of pets that other classes can't, making the Archer one of the most powerful classes in the game.

How to Get Beast Tamer in Rune Slayer

At Level 30, like all classes in Rune Slayer, Archers must choose a subclass. You have the option to specialize as a Sharpshooter or a Beast Tamer. Choose Beast Tamer immediately upon reaching Level 30.

Currently, there's no compelling reason to choose Sharpshooter. While firing multiple arrows sounds appealing, you'd miss out on the Beast Tamer's key advantage: the Alpha Predator passive ability. This skill allows you to tame unique beasts such as Bears, Adult Spiders, Crocodiles, and especially Mud Crabs. Beast Tamers are so resilient and powerful that they can even tackle many group activities solo.

Best Early Endgame Armor and Weapon for Archers

As you approach max level, equip the Elder set along with other key items. The best early weapon to acquire is the Troll Tusk Bow, which can drop from the Hill Troll.

Craft the entire set using parts from the Elder Treant raid boss. Don't be intimidated by its size; join a group or a Discord guild to tackle this challenge. As an Archer, with a strong Beast Tamer pet, you'll handle the damage output and survival well.

Best Late Endgame Armor and Weapon for Archers

Once you reach max level and aim to optimize your Archer, join the Demon Sect. Start defeating players from the opposite faction to increase your standing with your demon overlords, earning you the Stalker armor set. You’ll need to save a significant amount of in-game currency. The rest of your armor is relatively easy to acquire.

While you're at it, take on the challenging Amphitheres in Greatwood Forest. These bird enemies have a small chance of dropping Vermilion, currently the best bow in Rune Slayer.
