Assassin’s Creed Shadows Pushed To March 20
Ubisoft Aiming For A More Engaging Experience
Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been rescheduled for release on March 20th, 2025, marking the second delay for this eagerly awaited title. Originally slated for a 2024 release, it was first pushed back to February 14th, 2025, and now further delayed to March. Ubisoft's decision stems from a desire to integrate valuable player feedback to deliver a "high-quality, immersive experience."
In a statement shared across their official X (Twitter) and Facebook platforms, Ubisoft explained, "Each week has brought valuable feedback from our community. While we’ve already made remarkable strides, we believe a few additional weeks are needed to implement that feedback and ensure an even more ambitious and engaging day-one experience."

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot reinforced this commitment in a press release, stating, "We are all behind our teams’ efforts to create the most ambitious Assassin’s Creed opus of the franchise and made the decision to provide an extra month of development to Shadows in order to better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months. This will enable us to fully deliver on the potential of the game and finish the year on a strong note."
Additionally, Ubisoft disclosed in the press release their engagement of "leading advisors to review and pursue various transformational strategic and capitalistic options to extract the best value for stakeholders." This move is part of a broader effort to restructure the company, aiming to "deliver best-in-class player experiences, enhance operational efficiency, and maximize value creation." This comes in the wake of last year's underwhelming performance of their 2024 releases, including Star Wars Outlaws and the short-lived live-service shooter XDefiant.
While Ubisoft's official statements focus on improving the game, some fans speculate that the delay might also be a strategic move to avoid competition with other high-profile games set to release in February, such as Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (February 4th), Civilization VII (February 11th), Avowed (February 18th), and Monster Hunter Wilds (February 28th). This could potentially give Assassin’s Creed Shadows a clearer spotlight upon its release.
