Avowed, set in the expansive world of Eora from the Pillars of Eternity series, offers a diverse range of fantasy races, though character creation options are somewhat limited. Here's a breakdown of the playable races:
Humans (Folk)
Humans, or Folk, are the most common race in Avowed, and boast extensive customization options. Players can select from numerous presets, adjust skin tone, and choose from a variety of hairstyles and textures.
Elves
Elves are another playable race. They share a similar appearance to humans, distinguished primarily by their pointed ears and slightly different facial structures.
Godlikes
While all Envoys are Godlikes in the game's narrative, players can choose to incorporate Godlike features into their character's appearance. These features include unique hairstyles and facial structures, ranging from subtle to fantastical. At launch, Avowed offers 14 Godlike facial features and 4 hairstyles. These options are available regardless of chosen race or body type.
Character Customization: Gender and Pronouns
Avowed provides four body types: two masculine and two feminine, available for both Humans and Elves. Two masculine and two feminine voice options are also available. Players can further customize their character's identity by selecting pronouns (he/him, she/her, they/them).
Unplayable Races
While Avowed features various Kith races in its non-player characters (NPCs), including Dwarves, Aumaua, and Orlans, these are currently not playable races. However, future updates or DLC may add these options.
This concludes the overview of playable races in Avowed. For further character creation details, consult our guide on available backgrounds.
