In Divinity: Original Sin 2, Blackroot stands out as one of Rivellon's most crucial herbs. This rare plant becomes essential when performing Meister Siva's ritual during Act 4. To craft the required Ritual Bowl (combining a bowl, obsidian lancet, and Blackroot) and gain access to the Hall of Echoes for Night Vision, you'll need to locate this valuable ingredient.
While your first ritual uses materials found in Siva's basement, subsequent attempts require independent gathering. Obtaining the bowl and lancet is relatively simple, but tracking down Blackroot often proves problematic. If you're struggling to find this elusive herb, our guide will point you in the right direction.
Venture Into Cloisterwood
Located northwest of Driftwood along Reaper's Coast, Cloisterwood's dense forests contain multiple Blackroot plants. Press ALT to highlight interactable objects, and you'll spot these dark herbs growing at tree bases. Though only one is needed per ritual, we recommend collecting several to prepare for future requirements.
- Journey northwest from Driftwood to reach Cloisterwood
- Use the ALT key to highlight harvestable items
- Collect multiple Blackroots when possible
Cloisterwood Exploration Tips
This mysterious woodland holds numerous secrets beyond just Blackroot. Two NPCs - Hannag and Jahan - can provide Source points, with Jahan also featuring in Lohse's companion quest. The undead trader Eithne offers a Divine Order sidequest from her ruined hideout.
Northern Cloisterwood contains a pier where the Dead Ferryman can transport you to Bloodmoon Island. The area also hides Wrecker's Cave and potential loremaster amulets. We strongly advise thorough exploration, though you should avoid the dangerous witch Alice Alisceon until reaching at least level 15.
