While many *Monster Hunter Wilds* achievements focus on epic monster hunts, one rewarding achievement requires tracking down the tiniest creature: the Sandstar. This guide will show you how to unlock the elusive "I Caught a Shooting Star" trophy/achievement.
This achievement, deceptively simple, is surprisingly difficult to find. The key is capturing the Sandstar, a tiny, glimmering desert mouse-like endemic life found only in the Windward Plains—and only at night. Since most players explore this area during the day, reaching nightfall requires a bit of planning.
There are two ways to reach nightfall:
Fast Travel: Once you've unlocked multiple fast travel points in the Windward Plains, repeatedly fast traveling between them will advance the in-game time until night arrives. This is the earliest method available.
Resting: After completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content, you can use your Guild Points to rest at a camp, selecting "Nighttime" as your desired time of day. This offers more control over the environment.
The Sandstar is small and incredibly fast, even for your trusty Seikret. To make capture easier, consider gathering Screamer Pods beforehand. These can be obtained from Baunos, small winged monsters found in groups around Areas 11 and 13 of the Windward Plains. They're scavengers, often found near carcasses. While not essential, Screamer Pods significantly aid capture.
Once night falls, head to the midpoint between Areas 11 and 13. Spot the Sandstar, chase it at full speed, and use a Screamer Pod to stun it. Immediately switch to your Capture Net (the same one used for fishing) and capture it. The "I Caught a Shooting Star!" trophy/achievement will unlock, along with the "Ribbon Dream: Amber" nameplate for your Hunter Profile.
