Chants of Sennaar is out now, bringing Moebius-inspired puzzle exploration to mobile

Chants of Sennaar is now available on mobile devices

  • Discover an enigmatic ancient tower and bring its divided inhabitants together
  • Tackle language-driven challenges to reestablish peace and foster understanding

The study and translation of languages have long been a captivating subject, inspiring numerous books and academic studies. However, with the recent launch of Chants of Sennaar, it appears to be the first puzzle adventure I’ve encountered that places such a strong emphasis on linguistic mechanics. And it’s available immediately on mobile!

You may remember our previous coverage of Chants of Sennaar. The game transports you to a mysterious fantasy tower situated in the heart of the desert, where you assume the role of the enigmatic Traveler, striving to unite the various Peoples of the Tower.

How can this be achieved? As previously noted, you must decipher languages to succeed. By solving puzzles, uncovering forgotten glyphs, and even learning grammar, you interact with the distinct cultures within the tower, each possessing its own unique language. Through gradual decryption, you reconnect the tower’s inhabitants by bridging communication barriers and restoring harmony.

What Did You Just Say?

With artwork inspired by Moebius that evokes the golden age of magazines like Heavy Metal, it’s easy to see the ambitious gameplay concept behind Chants of Sennaar. If you’re hesitant, rest assured that its intuitive mechanics are paired with engaging exploration.

Creating truly alien environments is rare in most media, let alone video games. Yet, I find the strange, otherworldly setting of Chants of Sennaar to be highly captivating, even for players who typically prefer action-focused titles.
