Since adopting a live-service model, Call of Duty has introduced numerous systems for unlocking exclusive cosmetic rewards, catering to both free and premium players. Among these, the Battle Pass – popularized by free-to-play games – has become a central feature, offering tiered rewards.

In Black Ops 6 and Warzone, a new addition is the Event Pass, designed to coincide with limited-time themed events. This system offers players an additional progression path to unlock unique cosmetics. Here’s everything you need to know about how the Event Pass works in BO6 and Warzone.

What is the Event Pass in BO6 & Warzone?

The Event Pass in Black Ops 6 and Warzone is a captivating progression system linked to specific in-game events, providing both free and premium tiers with 10 rewards each. The premium version, priced at 1,100 CoD Points, mirrors the cost of the base Battle Pass and unlocks additional exclusive rewards. These rewards are thematically tied to the event, as demonstrated during the debut Squid Game collaboration, where players could earn cosmetics inspired by the hit Netflix series.

The Event Pass functions similarly to other progression systems, requiring players to earn XP to unlock these rewards. Completing all tiers rewards you with a Mastery Reward, often a new weapon or an exclusive Operator. Unlike previous systems that depended on in-game challenges or community objectives, the Event Pass offers a streamlined approach to unlocking rewards. It’s particularly appealing for players who want to immerse themselves in thematic events and maximize their content collection.

To enhance your progress during an Event Pass, take advantage of Double XP Weekends or activate Double XP Tokens, which effectively double the experience points you earn per match. Engage in fast-paced game modes and smaller maps to boost your XP through higher kill counts, scorestreaks, and completed objectives.

Is BO6 & Warzone Premium Event Pass Worth It?

The Event Pass Premium can be a valuable purchase for players who consistently complete the Battle Pass and are willing to spend additional money on in-game content. The free version provides a selection of rewards, but completing it first allows you to assess whether upgrading to the premium version for 1,100 CoD Points is worthwhile, especially if you've already invested in the Battle Pass or store bundles.

The rewards in the Event Pass are purely cosmetic and not essential for enjoying the game. Your decision to purchase it should hinge on how much you value exclusive event-related content. If you’re a collector or enjoy unlocking all an event has to offer, it might be a good investment. However, if you rarely finish the Battle Pass or prefer spending your CoD Points on store bundles, it might be more practical to save them.

The introduction of the Event Pass Premium has sparked debate due to its additional 1,100 CoD Points cost, which adds to the expenses of the Battle Pass and other premium content like store bundles at 2,400 and 3,000 CoD Points. Moreover, since the Event Pass is linked to exclusive collaborations like Squid Game, much of the event’s most appealing content is locked behind paywalls. Operators inspired by series characters are only available through premium bundles or the Event Pass Premium, limiting free-to-play players' access to these characters and their full engagement with the collaboration.

Before deciding to buy the Premium version of the Event Pass, consider whether a specific reward is worth the equivalent of $10 / £8.39, or if you’d rather allocate that money to other content in Black Ops 6, Warzone, or even a different game.
