Before engaging the Viper, ensure your skills are optimized for your chosen weapon. Summon the Spirit of Advocacy just outside the boss gates for additional support. As you face the Viper, be vigilant for its array of attacks:

  • A three-hit combo beginning with two stabs followed by a spear swing.
  • A two-hit spear-swinging combo from left to right.
  • A large sweep followed by a leap away, after which it throws its spear up to two times; watch for the returning weapon.
  • A four-hit combo with a spinning spear, followed by swipes in both directions.

Timing your blocks and executing Perfect Guards will rapidly deplete its stamina. Maintain pressure with continuous attacks and Brutal Attacks whenever possible. The Spirit of Advocacy can serve as a valuable decoy. When the Viper's health reaches about half, it will roar and summon an energy tornado; keep your distance to avoid being pulled in.

Post-energy blast, be alert for its leaping slam. The Viper introduces a grab attack, signaled by the flashing tip of its spear; dodge to the right to evade it. It also employs a new ranged attack where the spear spins vertically, followed by jumping attacks.

All previous attacks now inflict greater damage and have additional hits. Constant blocking is essential for safety. A Perfect Guard on the final hit of its five-hit combo will stagger the Viper, providing an opportunity for significant damage.

Once its health is depleted, the true battle commences.

Phase 2

In Phase 2, the Viper taps into Hismar's power, restoring its health and becoming even more formidable. It uses its fortified left arm for downward smashes and swipes, and a giant sword for slashes. When it roars, anticipate two wide-ranging arm attacks followed by a Burst Attack; use a Counterattack to stun it and open a window for attack.

At half health, the Viper summons a storm that dims the arena. During lightning flashes, it will leap towards you to attack multiple times, culminating in a charge and an uppercut. Parry or dodge these moves, and exploit its aggressive behavior to your advantage. It also introduces a leaping slam; adjust your position to avoid it.

Keep an eye on your stamina to avoid becoming vulnerable during the Viper's sustained combos. Defeating the boss rewards you with over 10,000 Lacrima, Hismar's Scale, several Fallen Lord items, and the Hunter's Ring.
