Delta Force, previously known as Delta Force: Hawk Ops, is now accepting pre-registrations for its mobile launch on iOS and Android. This relaunch by Level Infinite, a Tencent subsidiary, promises a blend of missions and game modes emphasizing tactical gameplay. The game is slated for a late January 2025 release and represents Tencent's significant foray into the modern military shooter market.
For those unfamiliar, the Delta Force series is a veteran of the first-person shooter genre, predating even Call of Duty. Inspired by the renowned US military special forces unit, the series has always focused on realistic weaponry and gadgetry.
Tencent's revival features Warfare mode (large-scale combat reminiscent of Battlefield) and Operations mode (extraction-based gameplay). A single-player campaign, drawing heavily from the 2001 film Black Hawk Down and the Battle of Mogadishu, is also planned for 2025.
Addressing Cheating Concerns
Despite high anticipation, Delta Force hasn't been without controversy. The PC version has faced criticism over Tencent's aggressive anti-cheat measures, implemented by their G.T.I. Security team. While these measures aim to combat cheaters, some players find them overly restrictive.
Although cheating might be less prevalent on mobile, the PC controversy could still impact the mobile version's reception. However, the mobile release offers a potential opportunity to deliver on the game's promise.
