The Witcher 4 Beta Test Invite Scam
CD Projekt Red Issues Warning
CD Projekt Red took to The Witcher's official Twitter (X) account on April 16 to alert the community about fraudulent beta test invitations for The Witcher 4. The post emphasized that no such beta tests are currently underway and any invitations circulating are scams.
"We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble upon news of one, we kindly ask you to report the scam using the tools available to you in your email client or the social media platform you are using."
CD Projekt Red clarified that any future beta tests would be announced first through their official channels on social media and their websites.
First Revealed in December 2024
The Witcher 4 was first unveiled at the Game Awards in December 2024, with a trailer showcasing Ciri as the new protagonist, marking a significant shift from the series' traditional lead, Geralt.
Following the announcement, The Witcher 4's Narrative Director, Phillipp Weber, spoke to VGC about the community's reaction. Weber acknowledged the fans' attachment to Geralt but emphasized the team's commitment to creating a compelling narrative with Ciri at the helm.
"The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago."
Executive Producer Małgorzata Mitręga expressed gratitude for the support received regarding Ciri's role and highlighted the passion of the fanbase.
"Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released."
The developers have promised that The Witcher 4 will be the most ambitious installment yet, introducing new regions and monsters. The game is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though a specific release date has not been announced. Stay tuned to our articles for the latest updates on The Witcher 4.
