The March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria* introduces Essence Stones, a crucial new item essential for several in-game features. These stones come in four sizes—tiny, small, medium, and large—and are vital for assisting with daily tasks. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to find, craft, and utilize Essence Stones effectively within the game.

Post the March 2025 update, Essence Stones can be discovered inside chests scattered throughout the mines of *Fields of Mistria*. My first encounter with these stones was while searching for items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60, but keep in mind that these chests can appear on any level across various biomes. Be cautious, though; some chests might be mimics that can harm you upon interaction.
Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. While smaller stones are more common, diligent exploration can lead you to larger deposits. If you're struggling to find them, consider crafting them at the Stone Refinery, which you can build within the mines.

Crafting Essence Stones becomes possible at the Stone Refinery, a new addition with the March 2025 update. This facility is part of a fresh story quest where Adeline recruits you, alongside Olric and Errol, to construct it from the ground up within the mines. To build the Stone Refinery, gather the following materials:
- x200 Wood
- x400 Stone
- x5,000 Tesserae
Once the refinery is operational, you can craft Essence Stones of different sizes using Stone and Essence. The required quantities vary based on the size of the stone, as detailed below:
**Tiny Essence Stone** | x5 Stone x5 Essence |
**Small Essence Stone** | x10 Stone x25 Essence |
**Medium Essence Stone** | x20 Stone x50 Essence |
**Large Essence Stone** | x40 Stone x100 Essence |
The Stone Refinery isn't limited to just Essence Stones; it's a versatile hub where you can also produce common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond, which are often needed for various projects and new builds in Mistria.
How To Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
The March 2025 update also introduced the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics, both of which rely on Essence Stones to function. Larger stones provide a longer-lasting charge, making Large Essence Stones the most efficient choice for extended use.

The auto-petter mechanic is enabled by the Animal Sprite Statue, which you can place in Large Barns and Coops. This statue ensures all animals within are automatically petted daily, provided an Essence Stone is active. You can find this rare item in a hidden cave next to Errol's house in the Narrows by using the Dragon's Breath spell on the entrance. Additional statues can be crafted once unlocked.

The sprinkler mechanic comes to life with the Water Sprite Statue, which you can position anywhere on your farm. It automatically waters crops within a 2-tile radius when powered by an Essence Stone. Crafting additional statues is possible, which is handy for managing larger crop areas. Locate the statue and its crafting scroll on a small island east of the beach, accessible by swimming past the Lighthouse and using Dragon's Breath to enter.
As *Fields of Mistria* evolves with future updates from NPC Studio, the utility of Essence Stones is expected to expand, enhancing your gameplay experience further.
