Bloodmoon Island is a mysterious region nestled in the north of Reaper's Coast. Surrounded by Deathfog and isolated from the mainland due to a destroyed bridge, reaching this island poses a unique challenge. Exploring Bloodmoon Island not only thickens the main plot but also unlocks a variety of engaging side quests. However, the game offers limited guidance on navigating the Deathfog to reach this intriguing locale, prompting players to scour Reaper's Coast for clues. Here's a detailed guide on how to access Bloodmoon Island and advance your story in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Spirit Vision Shows The Way
Originally, Bloodmoon Island was connected to the Reaper's Coast mainland by a bridge, located northeast of Cloisterwood, near the areas where you'll find Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the bridge, you'll also unlock the Driftwood Fields waypoint. To proceed, cast Spirit Vision to reveal the broken sections of the bridge, which is divided into segments, some of which are trapped. Here's how you can navigate this spectral pathway:
Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired during the first act, these gloves allow you to cast the teleportation skill without learning it. Use them to teleport each companion across the bridge, albeit tediously.
Translocation Skills: Utilize skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat to move across the broken bridge. Keep in mind that not all party members may have these skills, so plan accordingly.
Teleporter Pyramids: These artifacts allow you to warp between two points. Place one pyramid in a companion's inventory who can use translocation skills to cross the bridge. Once on the other side, the rest of the party can warp to them.
Fast Travel: If a companion with translocation skills crosses the bridge and discovers the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest of the party can fast travel to it, bypassing the bridge altogether.
Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog
For parties including Fane, an additional method is available due to his immunity to Deathfog. Northwest of Cloisterwood, you'll find an undead ferryman at a pier who offers to transport your party across the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this is a deceptive promise, as all but Fane will perish during the crossing. If Fane takes the ferry alone, he can safely reach the island, discover the waypoint, and allow the rest of the party to fast travel to him.
Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party
If your party doesn't include Fane but you still want to use the ferry, you'll need at least two Teleporter Pyramids:
- Unchain your party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the companion taking the ferry.
- After the ferry ride, the companion will die on Bloodmoon Island's pier.
- Use the second Teleporter Pyramid to warp the rest of the party to the deceased companion.
- Revive the fallen companion with a resurrection spell or scroll.
For parties without Fane, taking the bridge is often the fastest and safest method to reach Bloodmoon Island.
Important Note: Avoid attacking the Undead Ferryman, as he can cast a Deathfog spell that kills instantly. If you're tempted to engage him, save your game first. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
