Black Beacon, the gacha action-RPG, recently launched its global beta test, and we dove in headfirst to see if it lives up to the hype. Ready to find out if this is the next mobile gacha giant?
Setting and Story
The game unfolds within the enigmatic Library of Babel, a setting inspired by Jorge Luis Borges' short story. This isn't your average library; it's a vast, multi-dimensional space referencing the biblical Tower of Babel and brimming with Judeo-Christian mythology. Think *Evangelion*-level depth, but with a unique twist. You play as The Seer, thrust into this world with a mysterious destiny: becoming the custodian of the Library of Babel. Your arrival, however, triggers a catastrophic event—a monstrous creature emerges from the depths, alongside time-traveling shenanigans and a ticking clockwork star threatening utter destruction. It's a compelling narrative that keeps you guessing.
Gameplay
Black Beacon offers a 3D free-roaming experience with adjustable camera perspectives (top-down or free camera). Combat is real-time, hack-and-slash action, encouraging strategic character switching mid-battle. This tag-team system allows benched characters to regenerate stamina, rewarding smart team management. It's not just mindless button-mashing; mastering timing and enemy patterns is key to success, especially against tougher opponents. The diverse cast of characters, each with unique combat styles, keeps the gameplay fresh and engaging. The characters themselves are well-developed enough to foster a sense of connection.

Intrigued? The global beta is available on Google Play (Android) and TestFlight (iOS, limited slots). Download and play the first five chapters. Pre-registering via the official website nets you 10 Development Material Boxes, while Google Play pre-registration unlocks an exclusive costume for Zero.
