Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 development well underway - game director

Game director Hamaguchi recently provided an update on the highly anticipated sequel, urging fans to exercise patience as new details will be revealed at a later date. The team is diligently working on the project.

Hamaguchi highlighted the success of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, noting its numerous accolades and global player engagement. Building on this momentum, the developers aim to broaden the FFVII fanbase with the third game, promising unique gameplay challenges.

Interestingly, Hamaguchi also mentioned Grand Theft Auto VI as a game that caught his attention this year. He expressed admiration for the Rockstar Games team, acknowledging the immense pressure they face following GTA V's phenomenal success.

Specific details regarding the third installment remain under wraps, but Hamaguchi assures fans that development is progressing smoothly. This is noteworthy, given the recent release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. He emphasized that players can expect a truly unique experience.

While Final Fantasy XVI's May 2024 launch sales underperformed initial projections and fell short of fiscal year targets, the exact figures remain undisclosed. Similarly, sales for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth also missed expectations, though Square Enix clarified that they don't consider it a complete failure. The company maintains confidence that Final Fantasy XVI can still meet its sales goals within the allotted 18-month timeframe.
