A PlayStation studio, recently formed from former Bungie employees, is developing a MOBA titled "Gummy Bears." Initially conceived at Bungie, this project, reportedly in development since at least 2022, has undergone a significant shift.
This new PlayStation first-party title is rumored to deviate significantly from Bungie's established style, aiming for a younger audience with a "cozy, vibrant, and lo-fi" aesthetic. Instead of traditional health bars, Gummy Bears will reportedly utilize a percentage-based damage system similar to Super Smash Bros., influencing knockback and potentially resulting in characters being knocked off the map.
The game will feature three character classes – Attack, Defense, and Support – and multiple game modes. While the exact release date remains unknown, the game's current development stage and the size of the new studio (approximately 40 employees) suggest it's still several years from launch. The transition of Gummy Bears to this new studio follows Bungie's 2023 layoffs and subsequent integration of employees into Sony Interactive Entertainment.
