Formovie Episode One Projector Review

Author : Jacob Dec 18,2025

Here at Droid Gamers, we receive a wide variety of gadgets, but a projector is something new. The Formovie Episode One projector, which lets you stream mobile games on a larger screen, seemed like a perfect piece of tech to put to the test.

It aims to be a budget-friendly projector—typically, projectors are quite expensive—and we believe the Episode hits that mark, and then some. This is despite a few minor issues.

Inside the box, you'll find the projector, a remote (batteries not included), a power cable, and the user manual. It feels reasonably solid, though it doesn't have the same heavy-duty feel as some higher-end models.

That said, its lighter build makes it genuinely portable. At just three pounds, it's easy to take with you on the go.

Some users might find the selection of ports a bit limited, with only one USB-A port, one HDMI input, and a single audio jack. However, given its affordable price, this is to be expected, and it should still meet the needs of most people.

In terms of performance, the Episode One holds up well for its price. It offers 150 ISO lumens, so it isn’t the brightest or most powerful laser projector available.

During testing, it had some trouble in bright sunlight, but it performed nicely in darker conditions—as you'd hope, though it's still worth noting.

Every movie and TV show we tried came through clearly, and the games we streamed also worked without a hitch.

We found that placing the projector at least 10 feet away gave the best image quality. The built-in speaker delivered tolerable sound, though it wasn't the best.

The internal speaker tends to sound a bit tinny. So while it's usable, we'd definitely recommend connecting an external speaker to the Episode One if possible.

When it comes to the user interface, this model stands out in its class. Setup and everyday use are straightforward, and its simple, budget-conscious design actually makes it easier to use than some pricier projectors we've dealt with.

All in all, the Formovie Episode One is an excellent entry-level projector. It doesn't excel in any single area, but it’s a reliable all-rounder that will suit most casual users perfectly.

Purchasing an Episode One projector also gets you a Netflix gift card (worth $15/€15)—but this offer is only available until May 27th. Click here to learn more.
