How Is Varesa’s Playstyle Similar to Xiao’s in Genshin Impact?
Varesa's kit is intriguing and amusing, especially with her Charged Attacks. She propels herself into the air, enabling Plunging Attacks while generating Nightsoul Points. As a character from Natlan, her Charged Attack is key to accumulating these points.
Her Elemental Skill, Riding the Night-Rainbow, transforms her into a luchador pro wrestler, charging forward to deal Electro DMG. Following this, her Normal Attacks convert into Plunging Attacks without stamina consumption, echoing Xiao's style during his Elemental Burst, Bane of All Evil, which boosts his jumping capability for consecutive Plunging Attacks.
By executing enough Plunging Attacks, Varesa can enter a masked luchador state called Fiery Passion when her Nightsoul Meter is full, enhancing her attacks and Burst. This makes Plunging Attacks crucial to her gameplay.

Should You Stick to Xiao or Pull for Varesa in Genshin Impact?
The key difference between Xiao and Varesa's Plunging Attack playstyles lies in their mechanics. Xiao needs his Elemental Burst to perform back-to-back Plunging Attacks, whereas Varesa can initiate them with just her Charged Attacks. This allows her not only to enter a more powerful state but also to sustain Plunging Attacks in this form.

If you enjoy Xiao's playstyle and seek more of the same, Varesa could be a worthwhile addition. Her independence from her Elemental Burst for Plunging Attacks sets her apart. She synergizes well with other Natlan characters, leveraging Nightsoul’s Blessing.
However, consider that Xianyun, an excellent support for Plunging Attack characters like Xiao, will also have a banner in *Genshin Impact* 5.5 (Phase I). If you already own Xiao and lack Xianyun, pulling for her might be more beneficial. Otherwise, Varesa offers a fresh yet familiar experience.
