HBO has revealed the three young actors who will portray the iconic trio in the upcoming Harry Potter television series.
The HBO Original series has cast newcomers Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

Showrunner and executive producer Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod said in a joint statement: “Following an extensive global search led by casting directors Lucy Bevan and Emily Brockmann, we are thrilled to introduce our Harry, Hermione, and Ron.
"The remarkable talent of these three actors is a joy to watch, and we eagerly anticipate sharing their on-screen magic with audiences worldwide. We extend our sincere gratitude to the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. Discovering such a wealth of young talent has been a true pleasure.”
Warner Bros. and HBO previously confirmed the first six cast members in April, who will bring new interpretations to classic Hogwarts professors.
This initial announcement featured John Lithgow (Conclave, Dexter), who had already revealed he would be playing Albus Dumbledore, alongside other actors who were the subject of strong rumors and speculation.

Two casting choices that will likely delight fans are Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) as the beloved gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid, and Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You, Black Mirror) taking on the complex role of Severus Snape. They are joined by Janet McTeer (Me Before You, The Menu) as Minerva McGonagall, Luke Thallon (The Favourite, Present Laughter) as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse (The Fast Show, Alice Through the Looking Glass) as the cantankerous caretaker Argus Filch.
Professors Dumbledore, Hagrid, and Snape are not just pillars of the Harry Potter world but also iconic figures in broader pop culture. Each actor faces the challenge of stepping into these legendary roles, a point John Lithgow acknowledged when confirming his casting as the Hogwarts headmaster.
“I received the call while at the Sundance Film Festival for another project, and it was a difficult decision because this role will undoubtedly define the final chapter of my career,” he told ScreenRant in February.
“Nevertheless, I am incredibly excited. A brilliant team is revisiting the world of Harry Potter, which made the choice so challenging. I'll be around 87 by the time we wrap filming, but I've gladly accepted.”
