Mastering Dual Outfit Effects in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, while action-focused, offers extensive weapon and outfit customization. This guide details how to combine the benefits of multiple outfits, leveraging a powerful combination of stats and passive healing.
Remastered Version Required
This dual outfit technique is exclusive to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. A recent patch introduced transmog, allowing you to maintain an outfit's stats while visually changing to another.
Outfit Requirements
This method requires one freely chosen outfit and one of the following three Banuk Werak outfits from the Frozen Wilds DLC:
- Banuk Werak Runner
- Banuk Werak Chieftain
- Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept (New Game Plus only)
Access to the Frozen Wilds DLC is not contingent on completing the main game.
Obtaining Banuk Werak Outfits
Banuk Werak Runner
After reaching the Frozen Wilds area (defeating the initial machine), locate a Bluegleam Merchant (blue merchant icon) to purchase the Banuk Werak Runner outfit. Resource costs vary by difficulty:
Resource | Normal Cost | Ultra Hard Cost |
---|---|---|
Metal Shards | 1000 | 5000 |
Desert Glass | 10 | 20 |
Slagshine Glass | 10 | 20 |
Banuk Werak Chieftain & Chieftain Adept
The superior Banuk Werak Chieftain outfit is obtained by completing the "For the Werak" quest (third main quest in Frozen Wilds). Consider lowering the difficulty if needed. The Adept version is acquired similarly, but only in New Game Plus.
Combining Outfit Effects
Equip your desired outfit (optimizing stats with Weaves). Then, use the transmog feature to change the appearance to one of the three Banuk Werak outfits. While these outfits lack additional stats, they provide automatic healing after taking damage.
This strategy allows you to retain your chosen outfit's stats while gaining the passive healing of the Banuk Werak outfits. The Chieftain and Chieftain Adept offer significantly faster healing than the Runner. This combination, particularly with a strong defensive outfit like the Shield Weaver, creates a nearly invincible build.
