Jason Momoa Hints at Lobo's Appearance in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

Author : David May 14,2025

Jason Momoa, the actor who brought Aquaman to life in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), is gearing up to portray another iconic DC character, Lobo, in the upcoming DC Universe (DCU) film, *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*, set to release in 2026. Lobo, an alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia, boasts superhuman strength and immortality. Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo first appeared in *Omega Men #3* in 1983 and, much like Superman, is the last survivor of his now-extinct world.

Momoa, who has expressed his long-time admiration for the character, citing aesthetic similarities between himself and Lobo, shared some insights about the role in an interview with ScreenRant. He teased that fans will get a good, albeit brief, look at Lobo in *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*. Momoa highlighted his excitement and nervousness about playing his favorite comic book character, stating, "Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play. That's the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It's kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big. I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he's pretty rough and gruff and... I'll say the bike's really cool."

When asked about Lobo's screen time, Momoa confirmed that the movie primarily focuses on Supergirl, and his appearance will be a cameo, stating, "It's her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit."

In related news, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first photo of Milly Alcock as Supergirl on Bluesky, marking the beginning of filming for *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*. The film draws heavily from the graphic novel by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira, which follows the story of an alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll, seeking revenge for her father's murder with the help of Supergirl.

Joining Alcock in the cast are Matthias Schoenaerts as the villain Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother. *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* will be the second film in the rebooted DCU, following James Gunn's *Superman* set for release this summer, with the DCU's *Clayface* movie scheduled for September 2026.

From Aquaman to Lobo, Jason Momoa is crossing DC universes.
