This month marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, the epic conclusion to the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Released on May 19, 2005, it was the last Star Wars film directed by George Lucas before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012.
Fans eagerly anticipated Revenge of the Sith to witness Anakin Skywalker's transformation into Darth Vader. A significant mystery was the fate of the other Jedi during this pivotal moment. The film introduced Order 66, a sinister directive from Palpatine that commanded the Clone Troopers, who had previously fought alongside the Jedi, to turn against and eliminate them. Given the thousands of Jedi active at the time, it was plausible that some managed to evade Palpatine's lethal command, beyond just the few known to have survived into the Original Trilogy.
In the canon Star Wars universe, several dozen Jedi have been identified as survivors of Order 66. We've compiled a list of the top 10 who've left a significant mark on the saga. These Jedi varied in their longevity post-Order 66; some lived only briefly, while others endured far longer, and the fates of a few remain undisclosed. Yet, all of them lived to see another day after Palpatine's chilling command to "Execute Order 66."
Our criteria for this list include characters who were part of the Jedi Order before Order 66, ranging from Padawans to Jedi Masters and even young Initiates. Therefore, characters like Maul and Palpatine, who were not part of the Jedi Order, are excluded. Similarly, Force-sensitive individuals like Jod Na Nawood, who were never officially part of the Jedi Order or trained at the Jedi Temple, do not qualify.
There was some debate about including Asajj Ventress on this list. She was trained by Jedi Master Ky Narec on Rattatak for over 20 years, who considered her his Padawan. However, Ventress never visited Coruscant or met the Jedi Council before Narec's death. Her subsequent turn to the Dark Side under Count Dooku's mentorship adds complexity to her status as a Jedi. Thus, we've designated her as an honorable mention.
