While you can forge friendships with almost everyone in *Fields of Mistria*, romance is exclusive to a select group of NPCs. As of the v0.13.0 update, you have the option to pursue romance with 11 different characters, including Caldarus himself.
Each romanceable NPC has a heart meter that increases based on your interactions. To cultivate a romantic relationship with a specific NPC, engage with them regularly and pay close attention to their preferences. Start by **talking to them daily**—a simple chat can significantly boost their affection. Additionally, fulfill any requests they post on the town board; completing these tasks provides more opportunities to enhance their heart gauge.
Lastly, you can **gift them an item once per day** that they particularly enjoy or love. These items differ from one character to another and can be obtained through gathering or crafting. On their birthday, make sure to give them a gift they love, which will greatly increase their heart gauge.
Keep in mind that currently, the heart gauge for NPCs can only reach **six hearts**. Upon reaching this level, a cutscene with your chosen NPC will hint at budding romance, though it won't be fully developed yet.
According to the game’s roadmap, future updates will include 8 and 10-heart events for romanceable NPCs, along with options for marriage and children. So, your romantic journey in Mistria is just beginning.
