Marvel Rivals’ New Limited Time Avengers-Inspired PvP Mode Launches April 30
The Avengers Assemble in Marvel Rivals
On April 30, Marvel Rivals will launch a new limited-time PvP mode titled "Path to Doomsday: The Avengers." This marks the first installment of several time-limited modes introduced as part of the "Path to Doomsday" event. Subsequent modes inspired by various Avengers films will be added leading up to the release of *Avengers: Doomsday* on December 18, 2026.A recently released YouTube trailer for "Path to Doomsday: The Avengers" recreates the iconic circle shot featuring the original six Avengers—Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye—from the film, followed by gameplay footage of this asymmetrical PvP mode.
In "Path to Doomsday (Avengers)," a team lobby consisting of the Avengers battles against a player controlling an empowered version of Loki on the Yggsgard: Royal Palace map. Loki’s new abilities in this mode include an expanded health pool, a mind control field that forces allies to fight each other, and an Ultimate Ability that summons cloned versions of his own Avengers team to assist him.
Meanwhile, established heroes such as Thor, Hawkeye, and Iron Man retain their original move-sets. Black Widow is the only character whose gameplay has not yet been revealed. Some fans and content creators on social media speculate this omission hints at a potential rework of her moveset—a change the community has long requested due to her perceived weakness and low competitive viability in standard play.
Marvel Rivals’ Push Towards Being a Comprehensive Marvel Experience
The new Avengers game mode is the second addition to Marvel Rivals since Season 7.5, following the April 24 release of the PvE "Blood Hunt" mode. In Blood Hunt, players battle through waves of vampires across various New York City maps, facing boss fights against Cap-Wolf, Ratatoskr, Dracula, and a secret encounter with Kingpin throughout the campaign.
With the rapid introduction of new game modes and teased extended timelines for future gameplay additions during both the Path to Doomsday event and beyond, Marvel Rivals appears committed to evolving into a "comprehensive, moving anime Marvel experience."
Marvel Rivals is also hosting special events across other areas of the game. The ongoing 2026 Hellfire Gala community vote allows players to choose which character will receive an exclusive, free skin next year. Alongside the new Avengers mode, film-inspired skins for Iron Man and Loki are being added. Additionally, players can watch the entire 2012 Avengers movie within the game’s Times Square social map to earn free Units and other bonuses.
Marvel Rivals is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For more information on Marvel’s multiversal multiplayer hero shooter, read our article here:
